Propaganda's Bloody Mary honours the legendary cocktail born in the 1920s at Harry's New York Bar in Paris and later perfected on the other side of the Atlantic as the definitive brunch drink: vodka blended into a well-seasoned tomato base, brightened with lemon juice, deepened with Worcestershire sauce and a touch of heat from Tabasco, finished with celery salt and freshly cracked black pepper. Bold, savoury and instantly revitalising, it is a cocktail built on balance — the acidity of the tomato, the warmth of the spices and the clean bite of the vodka, held together in a single confident sip.

Lemon wedge1

Method
01
Rimming the glass
Rub a lemon wedge around the rim of a highball glass, then dip the rim into celery salt to coat it evenly. Set the glass aside.
02
Preparing the mix
In a mixing glass, combine the tomato juice, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, celery salt and black pepper. Stir well to dissolve the salt and let the flavours come together.
03
Adding the vodka
Pour the vodka into the seasoned tomato mix and stir gently to combine before it meets any ice.
04
Filling the glass with ice
Fill the prepared glass generously with ice cubes, right up to the rim.
05
Pouring over the ice
Slowly pour the vodka and tomato mix over the ice, holding the glass at a slight tilt to keep the rim intact.
06
Stirring gently
Stir with a bar spoon using one long, gentle movement from the bottom of the glass to the top, just enough to bring everything together.
07
Garnishing and serving
Garnish with a celery stalk, a lemon wedge and a skewer of cherry tomatoes on the rim. Serve immediately, ice cold.
